Welcome Darklings!
This series is a bit of an experiment. You might call it a catalogue of sorts. Just a peek into the darker corners of the collective unconscious. The plan is to post my erotic poetry, short stories and hypothetical wonderings, posting one episode randomly every week, barring any real world issues.
You might find a short story about vampires this week, and an epic bardic tale the next. I hope that you will come along with me on this path. It might wander a bit, but rest assured, there will be plenty of spice, violence and supernatural occurrences to keep you occupied, I hope LOL
The first installment is a short poem to get you going. I call it "Nothing Less Than Forever". It's a little bit of what you can expect as we move forward. If it's not to your taste, I hope that you stick around for the next episode as it may be more to your liking. There are plenty of taboos / flavors to go around, maybe even a bit of cringe in the mix as well just for good measure.
"Nothing Less Than Forever"
Don't fear the night
listen with a waking soul
Darkness is the womb of Life
creation in a single star
See the silver light
in liquid beads upon my skin
Touch me now and fall from grace
hold my heart in your hands
Listen close to Love's sweet rhythm
feel the beat within my breast fading
a moment gone with each caress
Hold me close and fight the coming dawn
If I could bend Time to my will
a thousand kisses I would bestow
to the one who's given me the Gift
Tonight nothing less than forever will do

So, what do you think? Poetry has always been a guilty pleasure for me. Somewhere along the way it seems to have left the mainstream and been relegated to dark corners where Gothlings in vintage Victorian mourning dresses sip tea and coffee and pour over tattered copies of Byron or Poe. Of course there is nothing wrong with that! I love the image of dusty old book stores and quiet voices in deep philosophical discussion about the virtues of the Romantics versus the Transcendentalists. Or which Shakespearean sonnet was their favorite. (What is yours?).
There is a certain emotion and flow to poetry that gives the words more weight somehow. Even the style can convey a mood. For example, a Haiku is, due to it's structure, very measured in tone and subject matter. They tend to be calming, or peaceful. Where as a Limerick is most often funny, bawdy or completely silly.
Most poems tend to be relatively short so I will be posting multiples in each poetry episode. They will follow a common theme or subject matter in each entry. Along with a few words about the subject, and my thoughts around how I created them.
Each short story will be posted as a single blog post. I want to explore many different subjects within this anthology. I am also open to suggestions on subject matter. Prompts can be a fun way to explore subjects that maybe you haven't thought of before.
That's enough of my ramblings for now. Thank you for taking time out of your life to hang out with the creatures inside my head. They're an unruly lot but they mean well, for the most part. I hope that I've piqued your curiosity about future posts.
If longer stories are more your cup of tea, please follow my other Vella stories, including Hunted. A paranormal shifter romance with a mystery to solve.
I look forward to taking this journey together,
~Tabz
