Warning for violence and SPICY themes
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
Would it be rude to laugh in her face? So much sweetheart, so much. "You couldn't even begin to understand what I've been through in the past 48 hours. But don't fret my little bird, none of it will ever matter to you."
Her pretty blue eyes went wide as I reached for her neck. Such a delicate thing. I could circle her throat with one hand. As I squeezed ever so slightly, she started to gasp. Sweet little huffs. It was always the same with them. It didn't matter whether I compelled them or not. The same breathy rhythm would be offered to my sensitive ears. Sex or fear, the excitement was the same. At least for me it was, and that's all that mattered right?
Her eyes began to close as her head tipped back. No, that won't do. I gave her a small shake, just enough to bring her back. I wanted to see her eyes. The moment all light left their eyes was the best part. It was the reason that I never fed from their necks. You miss so much that way. Only a fledgling would feed that way, like an animal who doesn't know any better. Not to mention the mess it created. It was beneath one who had lived as long as I had.
The soft leather of the back seat of my black SUV made it easier to press her small body under my weight. I kept it well oiled for just such an occasion. I would've preferred something smaller and more expensive, but those kinds of vehicles left very little room for the kinds of activities that I required. I'd also found that this type of truck seemed to attract prey very like the morsel who had come back to her senses and was trying fruitlessly to fight my grip on her throat. The easiest marks were the ones who were the most desperate. The high society bitches were just not worth the trouble or time to court them nor was the added danger of someone missing them. No one cared about little birds like this one.
Poor thing, she really was giving it her all. It only served to heighten my hunger. "Struggle away little dove, if it makes you feel better. We both know how this is going to end."
A simple shift of my weight and she was completely pinned with her hands flat against my chest. If anyone were brave enough to look in at the tinted windows they would see what appeared to be a normal couple engaged in your average late night tryst. Not that there was likely to be anyone out on this back road in a storm like this one.
The tearing wind and lightning kept time with the beat of her fragile heart, surging my hunger. It was building in the pit of my stomach, sending blood rushing to my eyes. They would be turning a deeper shade of gold now, more burnished with the blood lust I couldn't hide if I wanted to. It wouldn't be long now.
I couldn't stop myself from breathing deep, the scent of her rising panic was intoxicating. Her eyes fluttered again. Her body was betraying her, she was going to faint. Couldn't have that! Taking both of her wrists in one hand, she screamed as I brought her arms up hard over her head. Running my other hand down her chest from her now bruised throat, I could feel the rapid pace of her pulse beating directly from the source. Her heart fluttered deliciously against my palm. Just for fun I squeezed one small breast. It did nothing for me of course, but her eyes flew open. She was definitely awake now. She gazed up at me with the dawning realization that there was the possibility that I wasn't going to just kill her.
I could of course. I could just feed on her and be done with it, but where was the fun in that? I was in no hurry. Not this time. Those fools in the lab had sated my initial hunger and their blood had healed the myriad of wounds they'd given me over the past few days. Not to mention my own satisfaction at giving them an up close and personal demonstration of the true powers of an elder vampire.
I'd intentionally left a mess. It served multiple reasons. The obvious one being a warning to any of their brethren who might think to come after me. The other being a small hope that they would assume that their net had caught a smaller fish. It wouldn't do for them to think that the few elders left were still so easily brought down by something as cliché as laudanum laced bait in a short skirt.
What had ever possessed them to think that they could have held me for long?
My current meal squirmed again, brining me back from my wandering thoughts. What was wrong with me tonight? I'm not usually this distracted when a meal was so unwillingly enticing under me. Best to get on with it before I made a mistake.
Sighing, I pulled one wrist from my opposite grip and held it to my mouth. Her young skin was oh so soft against my lips. A quick grazing with my fangs opened a clean slice. Not deep enough to allow her to bleed out fully. That would be took quick. Her blood welled to the surface with the heady scent of copper and honey. The sweetest vintage was always that of youth.
The briefest kiss was all I needed to know that she was clean. I had learned my lesson. Never again would I hunt indiscriminately. They would not catch me again. Ever.
I locked her baby blue eyes with mine. Compelling her wasn't necessary, but given my distracted state, it might be the best option. "Hush my little dove, there is no need to struggle. We are old friends. You are with me willingly."
She instantly quieted. Her eyes dilated, the irises nearly full. It gave her an all the more innocent look that tore a growl of desire from my throat. I once again lifted her wrist to my lips. Her breathing changed. Fear was replaced by desire. She whimpered softly as I drew her blood into my mouth. She arched her back, struggling to remove my grip on her other arm.
Instead I brought it down to my neck, where she curled her fingers in my hair. The tangled dark strands caught her fingers and held them tight. Not that she would've wanted to pull away at this point. Her blood continued to trickle into my mouth. Sipping an expensive vintage bottle of red wine could not have been any closer to heaven than the taste of her life force as it flowed into me.
Her head tilted back again, this time I let it fall. She was close now, her breathing was shallow. It came in harsh little gasps. The pain of death was so close to the rush of climax, the bite of a elder vampire could bring you both. It was a skill that only came with time.
I ran my hand down her body as I pushed her knees apart. She opened for my hand, she was slick against my palm. I pressed a finger deep inside her. She arched weakly against my hand.
So close now... she was slipping from this world as my finger slipped inside of her. I did not need to see her eyes to know the instant that she came, it was followed almost immediately by the last beat of her heart. I drank them both in. Everything that made being human so tragically beautiful exploded in my head. Life and death in one.
I cradled her earthly body as I shook from the force of my own climax. She had literally given me everything that she was, It didn't matter if I'd compelled her or not. It was a gift. A delicious, wonderous gift that would sustain me for a good while. Blood could feed the body, but it was the lifeforce that kept a vampire rooted in reality.
That was the mistake they had made at the lab. The cold bags of drugged blood they had pumped into my veins had kept my body alive, but my mind had slipped enough to break free. A vampire unhinged was something no one was prepared for. I was clear enough in my thoughts now to understand that.
"Thank you my dove, for giving me back my mind". I brushed a kiss across her now cold forehead and released her back against the seat. I locked the doors to the sleek black truck as I got out. When I was far enough away, I set the engine on fire with a thought. The wind whipped the flames to quickly engulf the truck despite the pouring rain. They might find the truck with what was left of my little dove, but they would find no evidence of me. I would be long gone.
